EVERGLADES:
Bill could boost Fla. site's restoration funds
Greenwire:
Federal financing of a plan to save the Everglades has slowed seven years into a four-decade, $8 billion plan for the swamp's environmental restoration.
Projects are behind schedule and development continues to encroach upon the area. Increased federal funding and support is looking increasingly unlikely as well.
Restoration supporters say the Everglades would get a large boost from the Water Resources Development Act that would authorize $23 billion in water infrastructure projects, nearly $2 billion of which would be slated to help the Everglades (Abby Goodnough, New York Times, Nov. 2).-- KB
