Climate groups stake positions on post-Bush landscape
With just over 10 weeks until the presidential election, a number of prominent science groups are urging the next administration to take a more aggressive approach to climate science and weather prediction. The groups -- which include the American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Society and the University Corporation for Atmospheric Research -- call for a sharp increase in federal climate funding, roughly $9 billion above the $10 billion five-year budget projection for the multi-agency Climate Change Science Program.
