Mediterranean countries propose more than 100 solar projects

BRUSSELS -- More than 100 projects have been proposed as part of an ambitious plan aimed at developing solar energy in the Mediterranean region. The 43-country-strong Union for the Mediterranean has also contacted the Obama administration to coordinate the Mediterranean and U.S. solar programs in order to make this type of energy more competitive while avoiding sharp increases in the price of solar energy production equipment.
