House may vote on new oil, agriculture speculation bill next month
When legislation dealing with oil market speculation returns to the House floor in September, it may include some significant changes from the measure lawmakers voted on earlier this week, a key House Democrat said. Agriculture Chairman Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) said his proposal on energy futures markets, H.R. 6604, will be a work in progress over the next month, as he continues to gather information on energy and agriculture commodities markets.
