All eyes on House after Senate OKs Wall Street rescue, energy tax credits
The Senate approved a massive Wall Street rescue package last night, including billions of dollars in renewable energy tax incentives, in a 74-25 vote that puts pressure on House lawmakers to endorse the plan. The House plans to take up the economic package (H.R. 1424) tomorrow. Last night's vote puts extensions of expiring credits for wind, solar and other renewable projects close to enactment, just days after it appeared that a House-Senate impasse over broader tax policy issues would derail renewal of incentives the industry says are vital.
