The Senate yesterday evening avoided an all-nighter when Democrats and Republicans struck a deal to vote tomorrow on a modest "jobs" package that extends the current highway law through the end of the year. The chamber voted for cloture, 61-30, on the package of tax and infrastructure provisions yesterday evening shortly before 6 p.m., starting the clock on 30 hours of debate on the measure.
