Federal pensions appear to be off the chopping block in relation to the House's highway bill, but the next few months still promise to be a minefield for federal employees. Lawmakers have introduced no fewer than seven bills this Congress to extend the federal pay freeze, while at least 15 proposals would reduce the size of the federal workforce. And if the past is any indication, Republicans are eager to pick from the pile when looking for an offset to fund other priorities.
