Enviros slam proposal to curb president's monument authority

A coalition of conservation groups yesterday slammed a Republican proposal to restrict the president's ability to designate national monuments, arguing that the amendment rehashes a debate that was settled more than a year ago. More than 30 groups, led by the Conservation Lands Foundation, are opposing an amendment by Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-N.C.) to a bill that would promote hunting, angling and shooting access on public lands, among other things.
