Omnibus bill draws unlikely battle lines
Lawmakers from across the political spectrum may find a lot to like -- and dislike -- about a package of more than a dozen public lands bills scheduled to hit the House floor this evening. While the package is Republican-driven, its geographic scope -- spanning from North Carolina's seashore to Alaska's old-growth forests and the nation's 2,000-mile Mexican border -- not to mention its panoply of issues including national security, American Indian rights and access to public lands, may transcend partisan lines.
