1. ENERGY POLICY:
Dem 'corporations aren't people' amendment set for vote today
The House will vote today on a measure that aims to clarify the distinction between people and corporations when it comes to how environmental law should define public health. Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) offered the "corporations are not people" amendment to a pending energy bill and demanded last night that lawmakers go on the record with their views; the vote is scheduled for later today. Connolly's amendment would amend the Clean Air Act to define "public health" as applying only to "members of the species homo sapiens" and "not ... corporations or any other non-living entities."
