1. OVERSIGHT AND GOVERNMENT REFORM:
Issa may trim committee size but will keep up Obama admin probes
Just a few hours before his chairmanship of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee was officially re-upped for another two years, Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) made a presentation to the Republican Steering Committee yesterday afternoon about his vision for the panel in the 113th Congress. In his second term as chairman of the powerful committee, Issa is intent on continuing several of the high-profile investigations that have helped define him as an aggressive critic of the Obama administration, including a probe of the Energy Department's loan guarantee program. He also wants to prioritize the panel's legislative efforts dealing with transparency issues. And Issa might be doing all that under a committee structure that would be different in several important ways from the one that exists in the 112th Congress.
