Two Republican House members will unveil a resolution today declaring any carbon tax a threat to the economy. Reps. Steve Scalise (R-La.) and Joe Barton (R-Texas) are sponsoring the resolution with the backing of fossil fuel and conservative groups. The Scalise-Barton effort comes one day after two Democratic lawmakers, Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), introduced a carbon tax discussion draft, asking colleagues and others for their feedback.
