A top item on the Senate's agenda when it returns to Washington next week will be an effort to strip oil industry tax breaks, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said this afternoon. "We have to do something about these soaring gas prices. We need to take away the subsidies of these five major oil companies," the Nevada Democrat told reporters on a conference call this afternoon. "We have to do that as quickly as we can. I'm going to try to get it done as soon as I can do it procedurally in the Senate here."
