1. HYDRAULIC FRACTURING:
Eyeing an endgame, N.Y. governor to file for 90-day extension on fracking rule
NEW YORK -- Gov. Andrew Cuomo's administration today will look to extend a hydraulic fracturing review process already four years in the making, in a move that could pave the way for the approval of drilling permits before the end of winter. Officials working for the Democrat at the state's Department of Environmental Conservation are facing a deadline that expires today on the question of permits. They will ask for a 90-day extension under New York's Administrative Procedures Act, in order to keep working on whether the state will allow fracturing, or fracking, in upstate areas thought to be plentiful in natural gas.
