Flow reversal provides major 'de-bottlenecking' for Marcellus Shale gas

MONT BELVIEU, Texas -- This petrochemical hub along the Gulf of Mexico coastline has been transformed from supplier to major customer for the Northeast's natural gas products. Near the start of this year, Enterprise Products Partners launched operations of its newest mega-project: ATEX, or the Appalachia-to-Texas Express Pipeline, a 1,200-mile route of lines and pumping stations carrying ethane from Ohio and Pennsylvania. ATEX terminates at Mont Belvieu, where Enterprise can process the ethane and send it on to end-users.
