Energy stimulus grant could trip anti-government Republican

If Democrats are able to defy expectations and hold on to Oklahoma's 2nd District on Election Day, they might have a little-known energy efficiency grant program to thank for it. In the month since winning a primary runoff, Republican Markwayne Mullin, a plumbing business owner who has railed against government spending, has been tripped up by revelations that his company has benefited from large federal contracts, including more than $330,000 through a Recovery Act program that helped fund energy efficiency projects on American Indian lands.
