1. HOUSE LEADERSHIP:
Pelosi to stay put, wants a woman at the table during fiscal talks
California Rep. Nancy Pelosi said today she would stay on as Democratic leader through the 113th Congress, ending speculation that the former speaker would step down after a less-than-glowing election outcome for House Democrats. Citing a need to "reignite the American dream," Pelosi told reporters she reached a decision yesterday because "there was so much more I want to do." She added that her presence during fiscal talks guarantees that a woman would be part of any compromises reached on the matter.
