1. SUPREME COURT:
Can the government take a raisin? Farmer challenges Depression-era law
California farmer Marvin Horne, whose family has farmed raisins for nearly half a century, decided a decade ago he would no longer participate in a Depression-era program that requires raisin handlers to turn over a percentage of their crop to the government every year. The government didn't agree and hit Horne with hefty fines. Horne challenged USDA in court, starting a legal battle that lands tomorrow before the Supreme Court as Horne v. USDA.
