Agency asserts control over Northwestern power provider in wake of scandal

The Energy Department is tightening its control over the Bonneville Power Administration in the wake of a scandal over BPA's illegal hiring practices. In a memo to senior BPA officials yesterday, Deputy Energy Secretary Daniel Poneman outlined a new pecking order, directing the agency's human resources and General Counsel offices to report directly to DOE's Washington, D.C., headquarters.
