EPA tightens 25-year-old emission rule for home wood stoves
U.S. EPA proposed new emission limits today on residential wood-burning heaters and stoves that would make them as much as 80 percent more efficient -- the first update to that rule since 1988. Smoke from the heaters contains particulate matter and has been linked to asthma, cardiovascular disease, and short-term irritation of the eyes, throat and lungs.
