Community organizers press for clean power in the inner city

Advocates for low-income neighborhoods are pushing for rooftop solar and other renewable energy projects that might help cut utility bills, provide some jobs and lift spirits in the inner city. "Why should big business and the wealthy have the most access to renewable energy, but the ones in the most need for savings, healthy environments and jobs not have any?" said Erica Mackie, CEO of Grid Alternatives, a nonprofit that installs rooftop solar and provides job training in low-income areas.
