Seven stocks removed from federal overfishing list

Federal fisheries managers stopped overfishing last year on seven U.S. stocks and added no stocks to the overfished list -- the biggest management improvement in over a decade, the National Marine Fisheries Service said today. The agency's annual "Status of the Stocks" report found fewer overfished stocks in U.S. ocean waters, although nearly a quarter of surveyed species remain severely depleted. Go to story #1
