GM to suspend production of Chevy Volt

Weak sales are forcing General Motors to suspend production on the electric Chevrolet Volt, the automaker confirmed this afternoon. "We are simply adjusting production to meet market demands," GM spokesman Rob Peterson said in an email. Production of the vehicle will be on hold for five weeks and will resume in April, with workers at a Detroit plant being temporarily laid off.
