Mining poses threat to key Alaskan salmon fishery -- EPA
U.S. EPA warned today that a sprawling mine proposed for southwestern Alaska would likely pose a threat to waterways and a thriving salmon fishery. The agency released its draft assessment of the Bristol Bay watershed as the Pebble Limited Partnership is moving forward with plans to develop one of the world's largest gold and copper mines about 200 miles southwest of Anchorage.
