EPA sends soot standard to White House, expects to meet deadline
U.S. EPA this morning sent its finalized new air standard for small particles of soot that come from power plants, boilers and car tailpipes to the White House for review. EPA is aiming to meet a court-ordered Dec. 14 deadline for the new PM 2.5 national ambient air quality standard, or NAAQS. The agency said the final proposal was delivered to the White House Office of Management and Budget a little after 10:30 a.m. EST.
