Fla. plans legal action to stem Ga. water withdrawals

Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) announced today that his state plans to sue Georgia over water consumption that has limited flows into the Apalachicola River. Florida will seek an injunction from the Supreme Court next month against Georgia's use of water from the Chattahoochee and Flint river basins, Scott said in a statement. Metro Atlanta withdraws 360 million gallons per day from the Chattahoochee River for water supply, and consumption is expected to rise with the population in the coming years.
