Judge approves $4B criminal settlement in Deepwater Horizon disaster

A federal judge today approved a $4 billion settlement between BP PLC and the Department of Justice to address criminal charges stemming from the 2010 Gulf of Mexico spill. U.S. District Judge Sarah Vance accepted the guilty plea this morning in New Orleans, after an emotional hearing featuring testimony from relatives of the 11 workers who died in the accident.
