Jewell rejects road through Alaska wildlife refuge

Interior Secretary Sally Jewell rejected a proposed land swap today with the state of Alaska to build a gravel road through the wilderness in the Izembek National Wildlife Refuge. The decision stems from a four-year analysis on the effects of the proposed land exchange and the road's impacts on the ecology of the refuge.
