Link permit approval to investment in Dakotas' 'duck factory' -- Salazar
BOULDER, Colo. -- Former Interior Secretary Ken Salazar today said TransCanada Corp. should commit to funding land conservation in the Dakotas as a condition of approval of the Keystone XL pipeline. Salazar said royalties from the pipeline should help conserve the Prairie Pothole Region and Dakota Prairie Grasslands, which help sequester carbon dioxide and offer critical breeding grounds for waterfowl.
