The Trump administration is asking a federal court to reject a youth-led effort to block executive orders that call for boosting oil, gas and coal — or force the challengers to post a $1 billion bond.

In a filing with the U.S. District Court for the District of Montana, the government argued Friday that the young people suing the government over climate change do not have standing — or the legal power — to pursue an emergency injunction.

But if the court finds that they do, the government says they should post a significant bond as compensation for the disruption.
