Ga. ruling to trigger rise in renewable energy

State regulators yesterday ordered Georgia Power Co. to add 525 megawatts of solar energy to its electricity portfolio over the next three years, a precedent-setting move that effectively forces one of the country's most fossil fuel-dependent utilities to more fully embrace renewable energy.
