Meet America's new superpolluters: Plastic plants

The Sunshine Project, a gargantuan petrochemical complex proposed in Louisiana, will be one of the nation's largest greenhouse gas emitters when it becomes fully operational in 2029. It's one of 88 plastics plants under construction or planned in the U.S. that together would produce emissions equivalent to 38 coal plants.
