Boehner moving forward with energy-for-infrastructure plan

House Speaker John Boehner is promoting a plan to increase domestic energy production as a way to offer new funding for infrastructure projects by the end of the year, which could provide needed revenue for the Highway Trust Fund. The Ohio Republican has been discussing a scheme that would link energy production to infrastructure for months, and many Capitol Hill observers have speculated that the increased production could be used to fill a projected $75 billion to $100 billion gap in funding for the surface transportation bill.
