Murkowski poised to play a key role as Congress ponders life after Jaczko

Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski, the ranking Republican on the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, may soon position herself to take a leadership role on finding a replacement for the outgoing chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Murkowski, who likely stands to take the helm of the Senate panel should the chamber change hands in the next Congress, is considering offering up potential candidates to replace Gregory Jaczko, who announced this week that he will step down once the Senate finds a replacement. His term expires June 2013.
