Wildfire prevention, energy development top new Interior subpanel chairman's priority list

Ken Calvert has maintained a relatively low profile in his two decades in Congress. That may not change with his elevation to a key post atop the House Appropriations subcommittee that oversees the Interior Department, U.S. EPA and the Forest Service, but it will provide the California Republican with a more powerful post to pursue his priorities. In a brief interview yesterday, Calvert said his focus would fall on promoting energy development, limiting burdensome regulations and ensuring the federal government is adequately prepared to fight wildfires.
