Bush adviser cautions against 'recessionary' Senate emissions bill
President Bush's top environmental adviser raised the alarm today over the $2.9 trillion price tag that U.S. EPA models hung on the leading Senate climate bill. James Connaughton, the chairman of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, cited EPA's worst-case modeling projections for the bill from Sens. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and John Warner (R-Va.). "We have significant concerns with the current proposals," he said in a telephone interview.
