Appropriators corner Perry on DOE research spending

Officially, Energy Secretary Rick Perry was called before members of the Senate Energy Appropriations Subcommittee yesterday to explain the Trump administration's proposed cuts in energy research in its fiscal 2019 budget. He soon found himself in a defensive crouch over funding for the Department of Energy's 17 national laboratories.
