Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney released two new television ads today attacking President Obama for policies affecting coal mines and power plants. The 30-second spots show workers in hard hats, some of them interacting with the GOP candidate. In one of the ads, called "War on Coal," a worker says, "Obama is ruining the coal industry." It also includes Romney saying, "We have 250 years of coal; why wouldn't we use it?" Republicans and some Democrats insist the Obama administration is to blame for recent mine layoffs and expected power plant retirements. While competition from natural gas is a major factor, critics say Obama hasn't made it any easier.
