Voinovich becomes fourth Republican to announce retirement

Ohio Republican George Voinovich -- a political icon in his state and one of the more moderate Senate Republicans -- said today that he will not run for re-election in 2010. In announcing his retirement, Voinovich cited both his age -- 74 when his current term expires -- and the desire to spend the next two years addressing a number of legislative matters rather than running for another term.
