Obama formally nominates Foxx for DOT top job, urges Congress to act on infrastructure

Before formally nominating Charlotte, N.C., Mayor Anthony Foxx for the top job at the Department of Transportation this afternoon, President Obama called on Congress to approve his $50 billion plan aimed at repairing the country's aging infrastructure. As part of its "Fix It First" program, the administration is asking Congress for $40 billion for fiscal 2014 to repair crumbling bridges, transit systems and highways, as well as $10 billion to establish an infrastructure bank that would help officials modernize local projects.
