Glare affecting pilots near Calif. plant linked to construction issues

Operators of a newly operational Southern California solar plant have formally responded to concerns that glint from solar panels is a potential safety hazard for pilots flying near the plant. Ivanpah Solar Electric Generating System operators say a preliminary investigation indicates the glare reported by pilots to federal air safety officials was likely the result of heliostat mirrors aligned in unusual positions during the construction of the solar plant.
