Parked in the 90-degree heat outside Dallas on Wednesday, our reporters Edward Klump and Mike Lee couldn't help but notice what happened to their electric car's estimated driving range when they turned on the air conditioning. Watch the video to see how.

This phenomenon isn't unique to electric cars; air conditioning is an energy hog and changes how far one can drive in a standard car on a tank of gas. The difference is that an electric vehicle measures the impact and lets you see it.
