Clark previously was a reporter with McClatchy, covering coal, Kentucky and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.). She also covered the White House for McClatchy, writing about clashes over taxes and spending, energy and climate change and health care. She's reported from Saudi Arabia, Israel, Jordan, Russia, Mexico, Japan, Kenya and Cuba.

A graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Clark also worked at the Miami Herald, writing about opposition to offshore oil drilling and efforts to restore the Everglades.
