Robert Powelson is giving up his seat at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to take over the leadership of the lobby representing the nation’s private water companies.
Powelson, a Republican, made the announcement that he will be president and CEO of the National Association of Water Cos. on Twitter this afternoon.
“It is with mixed emotions that I issue the following statement. It has been an honor to serve this great country. My family and I are deeply appreciative of this opportunity. FERC is a world class organization. Thanks to you, fellow FERCians!” he wrote.
Powelson was nominated to FERC by President Trump in May 2017. His term was to run through June 30, 2020.
Before FERC, Powelson was member of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, where he was chairman for more than four years.
