Green Building

E&ETV explores green housing industry, looks at various certification programs

As businesses recognize the financial advantages of building green, the private sector is slowly awakening to the green building boom. With the U.S. Green Building Council introducing its LEED for Homes certification pilot program, Jackie and Cass O'Neil of Perkiomenville, Pa., were the first in the country to receive LEED Gold certification for their newly built green homes. In E&ETV's Special Report, "Green Homes: The New House on the Block," E&ETV takes viewers inside the O'Neil sisters' homes and talks to the green home architect behind their design. Representatives from the USGBC and National Association of Home Builders talk about their organizations' certification programs for green homes and address the economics of building green.
