9th Circuit judge faces criminal battery charges

A judge of a West Coast federal appeals court with a hefty environmental docket is facing criminal battery charges, according to court records.

In footage published by the Idaho State Journal, Judge Ryan Nelson can be seen confronting a man in a parking lot, swiping off his glasses and running to stomp on them.

Nelson has been charged with battery and malicious injury to property in connection to the April incident, court records show.

An attorney for Nelson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
