The Biden campaign’s battleground state director is a veteran Democratic strategist who’s also well-versed in wonky climate and air regulations.
Dan Kanninen, who joined President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign effort in January as battleground states director, served in the Obama EPA as the agency’s liaison to the White House.
“Climate change is an existential threat and President Biden is fighting to protect our climate — delivering the most consequential climate legislation in history,” Kanninen said Tuesday in a statement. “As Donald Trump continues to tout an agenda of climate change denialism, I couldn’t be more thrilled to be a part of the team that will beat him once again.”
During Obama’s first term, when then-EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson was leading the agency, Kanninen worked “as a bridge builder to the White House and other cabinet agencies,” he wrote on LinkedIn.
