The House is preparing to release its Interior-Environment spending bill as soon as this weekend.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright testifies before the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Energy on Tuesday.

The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee will lob new questions at Energy Secretary Chris Wright this week as the administration pushes to cut funding for renewables while boosting fossil fuels and nuclear.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and other Pentagon officials are also due to testify regarding the Department of Defense budget and priorities for military construction and veterans affairs.

The hearings come as lawmakers are beginning the fiscal 2026 appropriations process without a complete budget request from the White House.

The House is out this week but has been advancing spending bills out of the Appropriations Committee at an aggressive pace. In the Senate, Appropriations Chair Susan Collins (R-Maine) is not planning on beginning markups until the end of the month, at the earliest.
