House appropriators will question Army Corps of Engineers leaders on Tuesday about the agency’s water projects.

The oversight hearing will focus on the civil works program. That includes federally managed locks, dams and ports, as well as projects across the nation to reduce damage from floods and storms and restore aquatic ecosystems.

Witnesses include the chief of engineers and the commanding generals of four regional Army Corps districts. President Donald Trump has yet to announce a nominee to lead the Army Corps.

The hearing could focus on the status of construction projects and obstacles to getting projects done, said Alexia Sikora, chief of communications for the House Appropriations Committee. It comes at a time of uncertainty for the corps — which is part of the Department of Defense — when it comes to staffing over the next few years.
