The Biden administration is one step closer to finalizing landmark nationwide limits on “forever chemicals” in drinking water.
The White House this week wrapped up its review of EPA’s final regulation requiring water providers to reduce concentrations of PFAS, according to the Office of Management and Budget.
The rule would be one of the most significant new drinking water regulations in decades. PFAS, or per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, are a class of manufactured chemicals that have entered the water supplies of millions of Americans and are linked to a range of health issues.
EPA did not say Thursday when the rule will be released. The statutory deadline for issuing a final rule is Sept. 3.
